DKIM demystified

DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) allows a person or organisation to claim responsibility for an email message by associating a domain name with the message.

DKIM signatures are produced using a private key by the sender’s mail server. They’re then verified by the receiver’s mail server by fetching public key via DNS query (illustrated below).
